Stainless steel scrap exports from Russia
The volume of Russian stainless steel scrap exports over the period from January to July 2012, compared to the equal period of 2011, decreased by 4.4% to 49,756 tons. The biggest volumes of stainless steel scrap were exported to Holland (31.9%), Germany (23.8%) and Cypress (15.6%).
Russia's main regions which supplied stainless steel scrap on the outer markets during this period were Saint-Petersburg (54.7%), Mordovia (6.4%) and Moscow (5.8%).
Fifty companies were engaged in stainless steel scrap exports among which the leaders were: Ocean Ltd. (17.5%), Ferromet Ltd. (15.6%), TK MVS Ltd. (6.1%), Nord Steel Ltd. (5.7%) and Technolit Ltd. (4.7%).
Scrap still remains a very important commodity for the global stainless steel industry. According to experts' appraisal, the volume of scrap utilization in the manufacture of stainless steel amounts to 7-7.5 mln. tons p.a.
