Russian stainless steel consumption in ½ 2020
According to the expert assessment of Spetsstal Association, the volume of consumption of the main types of stainless steel products in Russia in the first half of 2020, if compared to the same period of 2019, increased by 22.7% to 263.51 kt (000’ tons).
Consumption of stainless steel CR flats increased by 31.6% to 121.81 kt, HR flats - by 43.0% to 49.78 kt, long products – by 5.9% to 42.91 kt, welded tubes – by 13.2% to 26.12 kt and slabs/ingots – by 92.5% to 3.88 kt.
Consumption of seamless tubes decreased by 12.8% to 14.42 kt and wire – by 13.3% to 4.55 kt.
According to Spetsstal Association the share of foreign products in total stainless steel consumption in Russia was 74.6%, and domestic – 25.4% (in ½ 2019 – 71.3% and 28.7% respectively).
In ½ 2020, the most dependent (from foreign products) sectors of stainless steel consumption in Russia were: flat cold rolled products, where the share of imported products was 97.5% (in ½ 2019 – 97.0%), wire – 79.0% (94.7%), flat hot rolled products – 77.3% (69.0%), seamless tubes – 56.3% (60.4%) and slabs/ingots – 53.8% (51.7%).
The share of foreign products in the consumption of welded tubes – 42.2% (47.1%) and long products – 34.2% (31.0%).
