Russian stainless steel imports in ½ 2020
According to an estimate by SpetsStal Association, the volume of Russian stainless steel import in the first half of 2020, if compared to the same period of 2019, increased by 28.1% to 197.35 kt (000’ tons).
Imports of CR flat-rolled products increased by 31.9% to 119.34 kt, HR flat-rolled products - by 60.0% to 38.17 kt, bars/rods products - by 16.8% to 14.82 kt, welded tubes – by 1.4% to 11.04 kt and slabs/ingots - by 99.8% to 2.08 kt.
Imports of seamless tubes decreased by 17.7% to 8.25 kt and wire – by 27.9% to 3.62 kt.
Expenses of Russian importers increased by 14.4% to 474.74 Mill US dollars.
The following countries took a leadership in stainless steel supplies to Russia in the first half of 2020: China with a share of 39.8% out of the whole imports (in ½ 2019 – 37.2%), Indonesia – 10.0% (4.9%), India – 9.9% (10.7%), Taiwan – 7.8% (10.5%) and South Korea – 5.6% (6.1%).
Out of the top 5 countries, China increased stainless steel supplies to Russia by 37.1% to 62.22 kt, Indonesia – by 159.4% to 19.74 kt, India – by 18.2% to 19.54 kt and South Korea – by 16.8% to 10.97 kt.
Taiwan decreased stainless steel supplies to Russia by 5.1% to 15.32 kt.
