Slight downturn in stainless steel output in Russia
According to SpetsStal Association, within the period of Jan-Feb 2011, comparing to the same period of 2010, output of stainless steel in Russia decreased 1.6% to 10650 tons.
The most impact on the general decline in output was due to curtailing stainless steel production (-23%) at Chelyabinsky Plant (Mechel).
After Mechel stopped direct stainless steel sales to traders in Dec 2010 - the current downturn in stainless steel output was very much anticipated.
