Imports have picked up slightly
According to an expert appraisal by Spetsstal Association, stainless steel imports in September 2010, on August, grew 0.8% to 20068 tons.
The by-product imports rose in flats by +3.9%, slabs/ingots by +21.5% and welded tubes by +2.2%.
Imports of wire, longs and seamless tubes dropped by 28.8%, 0.4% and 11.2% respectively.
The aggregate volume of stainless steel imports from January to September 2010 amounted to 141507 tons. Comparing to the same period in 2009, imports grew 99.5% (2009 – 70943 tons). Comparing to the same period in 2008, imports grew 4.5% (2008 – 135430tons).
