Stainless Steel Imports rose 9.8%
According to Spetsstal’s appraisal, in August 2010, as compared to July 2010, imports of main types of stainless steel products grew 9.8% to 19912 tons.
Product-wise growth: flats +7.4%, longs +24.7%, wire +10.8%, seamless tubes +14.1% and welded tubes +23.1%.
Imports of slabs and ingots decreased 75.6%.
From January to August 2010, imports of stainless steel amounted to 121439 tons, that is a 125.9% increase on the same period of 2009 (in 2009 – only 53752 tons). In 2008, imports amounted to 119776 tons.
