Stainless Steel Demand Stimulated by Russia’s Growing Stainless Steel Production
Spetsstal’s appraisal shows a 69.1% growth (to 26.73 thousand tons ) in consumption of stainless steel long products in Russia in the first half of 2010, on the same period of 2009. At the same time, the local output grew 68.2%, while exports shrunk 0.5% and imports rose 59.9%.
Despite such a profound success in comparison to 2009, the consumption of stainless steel long products in 2010 still lags behind 2008’s levels by 30%. To remind, the first half of 2008 showed the consumption at 38.14 thousand tons.
