2009 turned Russia’s STS market 6 years back

According to Spetsstal Association, the overall consumption if key STS products in Russia in 2009, as compared to 2008, fell 36% to 192 thousand tons, while imports were cut by 32.7% and exports – by 39.2%.

The Russian STS market still retains high dependability on imports, the share of which accounted for 57% in the aggregate consumption volume.

At the start of 2010, the world’s STS market has registered a rise in prices for raw materials (Ni, FeCr, FeMo, FeTi…) as well as for STS products. What are the key conditions for STS markets recovery? Will STS imports from Europe in 2010 start again - with or without anti-dumping duty?
