Stainless steel imports to Russia rose 54.4% in February 2009

Imports of key stainless steel products to Russia rose 54.4% in February 2009, compared with the previous month, to 9623 tons. Flats still dominate in the imports structure with a share of 71.7%, followed by welded tubes – 12.7%, seamless tubes – 4.6%, billets – 3.1% and wire – 0.7%.

Over the first two months of 2008, 26916 tons of various stainless steel products had been imported. In 2009, over the same period, imports made only 15856 tons (decrease in the supply volume fell 41.1%).
