14 days for Russian government to decide on imports of stainless steel tubes

As it became known to Spetsstal Association, Russia’s Ministry for Industry and Trade is through with an investigation into increased imports of stainless steel tubes. The report on the investigation has been passed over to the Russian government.

According to the article 5 of the Federal Law №165-FZ RF of December 8th, 2003, the government should decide within 14 days after the report’s receipt on imposition, revision or cancellation, or non-imposition of corresponding measures in question.

The law’s set term may eventually be overshot due to the importance of the matter in the critical market circumstances.

The crisis on the world’s arena, including the markets for stainless, make state rulers more carefully consider the imposition of any such restrictions in foreing trade. For Russia, imposing quotas on imports of stainless steel tubes will have no economical consequences however may yield a negative political result.
