Half a year past – keeping the course
Russian imports of stainless steel over the first half of 2008, as compared to the same period of 2007, grew 6.1% to 82.3 thousand tons.
In the structure of stainless steel imports, the lion’s share is still given to flat-rolled products (67.7%), followed by welded tubes (11.7%), longs (10.9%), seamless tubes (7.2%), wire (1.5%) and billets (1.1%).
As the imports grow, stainless steel exports are on the wane. Over the first half of 2008, as compared to the same period of 2007, the volume of Russian stainless steel exports decreased 11.4% to 6.8 thousand tons.
