Inner market prices for flats

In the first half of 2008 the offer prices for CR flats on Russia’s inner market has been showing a mixed dynamic.

The average annual prices for some popular grades in the first half of 2008 were hovering around:

· for AISI 304 2B – 166108 roubles/ton incl. VAT,

\r\n

(in 2007 – 168212 roubles/ton incl. VAT)

\r\n

· for AISI 321 2B – 176152 roubles/ton incl. VAT,

\r\n

(in 2007 – 180180 roubles/ton incl. VAT)

\r\n

· for AISI 430 2B – 71997 roubles/ton incl. VAT,

\r\n

(in 2007 – 74151 roubles/ton incl. VAT)

\r\n

As it may be seen from the data above, the current values of the average annual offer prices in 2008, as compred to 2007, went down 1.2% – 2.9% depending on a grade.

\r\n

The price dynamics on the inner market is mainly connected with the price fluctuation in the world as well as with current terms of importing and the rouble/dollar exchange rate.

Since the start of 2008 the offer price for AISI 304 2B CR flats (08X18H9) on the Russian market rose 4% to 6938 USD/ton incl. VAT. The world’s average prices also rose by 3.7% to 4328 USD/ton.

\r\n

The further price change in Russia’s CR market sector will be dependent on the world’s price situation as well as on the fluctuation in the costs of customs logistics. Over the recent time, Russia’s Federal Customs Service has been undertaking some certain steps towards raising customs clearance fees over imports up to the world middle level. All this leads up to increasing the costs of utilizing ‘grey importing schemes’ and leveling them up with the costs of legal importing. With all this in view, still more and more trading companies and end-users prefer direct deals with overseas suppliers rather than using the dubious services of importers.
