In the aftermath of the Russian-Asian Stainless Steel Forum

SPETSSTAL ASSOCIATION in conjunction with China Stainless Steel Council and Indian Stainless Steel Development Association has held the RUSSIAN-ASIAN STAINLESS STEEL FORUM, a long-awaited event on the Russian stainless steel market, on 3-4 June 2008 in the Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel Moscow, Petrovsky Conference Hall.

This Forum is a “must-attend” for anyone involved in or planning to be involved in the stainless steel business in Russia.

Background:
In 2007 the consumption of stainless steel in Russia grew 7.5% to over 300,000 tons, while imports of stainless steel rose 7.2% to 170,000 tons. The major share of imports came from South-Asian region, where the leaders were China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan. It is expected that in the nearest future stainless steel demand in Russia will double thanks to the on-going execution of nation-wide, state-initiated projects of redevelopment of the industrial sectors such as: the machinery construction sector, power engineering, atomics, oil-and-gas production, and necessary improvements in the social infrastructure.
