Imports 2006-2007
In the past two months of 2007, apparent imports of basic stainless steel products to Russia, as opposed to 2006"s similar period, decreased 14.8% to 20.2 thousand tonnes. Major falls have been observed in the sector of flat-rolled supplies with a width of over 600 mm whose volume went down 43.5%. These cuts have affected supply offers and as result spawned a deficit and price hike. A further outcome may give rise to sharp depletion of stock levels.
\r\nAccording to the USSA"s forecasting, May and June will face a considerable deficit in HR and CR flat stainless steel supplies, particularly, in AISI 321 (08X18H10T).
\r\nHR imports with a width of below 600 mm over the first two months of 2007 rose 100% to 2250 tonnes. Along with it, also rose imports of long stainless steel +72.7% (2870 tonnes), seamless tubes +99.3% (1950 tonnes) and welded stainless steel tubes +59.1% (3100 tonnes).
