Stainless steel consumption in Russia increased by 34.2%

According to Spetsstal Association, the volume of stainless steel consumption in Russia in the first quarter of 2017, if compared to the same period of 2016, increased by 34.2% to 114,009 tons.
At that, the volume of domestic output increased by 0.3% to 29,787 tons and imports - by 45.7% to 84,951 tons. Exports decreased by 32.5% to 729 tons
In Q1 2017 the share of foreign products in total stainless steel consumption in Russia was 74.5%, and domestic – 25.5% (in Q1 2016 – 67.8% and 32.2% respectively).

Consumption of stainless steel flats increased by 39.3% to 71,508 tons, long products – by 19.5% to 19,755 tons,
welded tubes – by 48.7% to 10,886 tons, seamless tubes – by 19.9% to 8,112 tons, wire – by 33.1% to 2,406 tons and slabs/ingots – by 10.4% to 1,342 tons.
