Stainless steel consumption in Russia increased by 21.4%
According to Spetsstal Association, the volume of stainless steel consumption in Russia in the first quarter of 2016, if compared to the same period of 2015, increase by 21.4% to 84,866 tons. At that, the volume of domestic output decreased by 0.3% to 27,757 tons, exports increased by 56.2% to 1,218 tons and imports - by 33.2% to 58,327 tons.
The share of stainless steel imports amounted 68.7% (Q1 2015 – 61.8%).
Consumption of stainless steel flats rose by 25.9% to 51,203 tons, longs – by 14.3% to 16,554 tons, wire – by 1.3% to 1,807 tons and seamless tubes – by 34.1% to 6,785 tons.
Consumption of welded tubes fell by 1.7% to 7,322 tons and slabs/ingots – by 14.7% to 1,216 tons.
