The share of Ukraine accounted 66.7% of the total volume of Russian exports of stainless steel

According to experts of the SPETSSTAL Association, in the period from January to June 2014, the volume of Russian exports of the main types of stainless steel products, compared with the same period of the previous year, decreased by 65.9% and amounted to 4839 tons.
The basis of the reduction was the primary supply of billets, whose exports decreased by 94.7% from 9006 tons to 475 tons. Export of flat products of stainless steel decreased by 36.1% to 751 tons, the wire - by 82.2% up to 16 tons, seamless pipes by 13.0% to 924 tons and welded pipes - by 86.3% up to 31 tons.
Exports of long products, on the contrary, increased by 5.7% and amounted to 2,642 tons. In this case, 2373tn, or almost 90% of total exports of long products were supplied to Ukraine. Leading Russian exporters of long products were VSW "Red October ", which accounted for 65.0% of total sales, MZ "Elektrostal" - 14.7%, Izhstal - 6.3% and Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant - 5.5%.
According to experts, the corporative communication gap between Russia and Ukraine could lead to a complete shutdown of mutual supplies of stainless steel. Currently the balance of supply is as follows. During the first half of 2014, Ukraine exported to Russia 12322tn of various kinds of stainless steel products in the amount of 64,9mln US dollars. Russia supplied 3227tn in the amount of 15,5mln.US dollars. Thus, the Ukrainian deliveries exceed the Russian ones by almost 3.8 times in volume and almost 4.2 times in value.
