Russia's market for stainless steel welded tubes

According to SpetsStal's appraisal, imports of stainless steel welded tubes to Russia, despite the imposed import quota, rose 10.4% to 15,404 tons in 2013, compared with 2012.

Among the chief channels of stainless steel welded tubes consumption is Russia's automotive industry, to be more precise, automotive components such as exhaust systems. The manufacture of these kinds of products are profusely developing. Many foreign companies are now establishing plants in Russia (Eberspacher, Bosal, Tenneco, Atiho, Faurecia...)

Most of their produced exhaust systems are manufactured from stainless steel and used for assemblage of local and foreign brands of vehicles. The modern construction of exhaust systems contain welded tubes and flat-rolled products from stainless steel of 400-series (AISI 409, 439, 430...) and 300-series (AISI 304, 301...)

In 2013, 1.9 million cars were produced in Russia, including ~1.0 million cars of foreign brands. Partly these cars' exhaust systems were made locally while the rest were imported. Experts predict a further growth of Russian-made exhaust systems which seems to be an auspicious perspective for local producers of stainless steel welded tubes.

The question stands, will they manage to satisfy the demand of exhaust systems manufacturers in terms of product assortment, capacity and quality?
