Russia's stainless steel export is speeding down
According to SpetsStal's expert appraisal, in November 2013, compared with October, the volume of Russia's stainless steel export decreased 38.4% to 616 tons. The export's structure was basically formed by stainless steel long products which share equated to 51.5% out of the whole stainless steel exports. Followed by ingots/slabs - 23.1%, flats - 14.4%, seamless tubes - 8.9%, welded tubes - 1.1% and wire - 1.0%.
It is worth mentioning that generally the passing year has been quite beneficial to Russian exporters. From January to November 2013, compared with the equal period of 2012, Russia's stainless steel exports rose 187.6% to 21,599 tons.
A major growth has happened in the export of ingots/slabs - almost 13 times (from 967 tons up to 12,324 tons). The export of other stainless steel products was less buoyant - +41.7% including flats - +29.6% (2,485 tons), longs - +74.1% (4,967 tons), wire - +11.2% (109 tons) and seamless tubes - +6.3% (1,466 tons). The export of welded tubes decreased 16.1% down to 248 tons.
However, despite the efforts of Russia's domestic stainless steel makers, their export supplies to foreign markets remain very weak.
